Deputy Director in charge of Procurement at the National Security Secretariat and former Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prince Razak Abdul-Moomin Tachi, has disclosed the acquisition and construction of 17 mechanised boreholes for communities in the Wa East constituency to help address persistent water crisis in the area.
Speaking to Mak News, Mr. Tachi, who formerly aspired to be the NDC’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Wa East Constituency, said all 17 boreholes have been drilled, with 15 already commissioned for use by the beneficiary communities.
Some of the communities benefiting from the initiative include Jeyiri, Katar, Bulenga, Funsi, Yaala No.1, and Chawuli Fali.
According to Prince Razak, the water situation in Wa East remains worrying, hence his efforts to support communities without access to quality and reliable water.
The target is to secure between 30 and 40 mechanised boreholes for communities across the constituency before the end of 2026, he noted.
He said the position and opportunities given to him must be used to positively impact lives, stressing that he intends to lobby for development projects for the constituency before leaving office.
The former Regional Treasurer said the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive alone cannot address all the development needs of Wa East, hence his decision to complement their efforts.
He described Wa East as one of the most deprived districts in the region and pledged to do his best, using his experience as a former Parliamentary Candidate and former Regional Treasurer, to support development in the area.
He touted his lobbying skills, which, he said, have enabled him to secure support from outside the country for development projects in the constituency.
When asked whether he still intends to contest the Wa East parliamentary seat, Mr. Abdul-Moomin Tachi said his current focus is on contributing to the development of the constituency, noting that he would allow time to determine his future political ambitions.
