MTN Ghana says it remains committed to strengthening its network infrastructure through significant investments aimed at improving service quality and expanding coverage across the country.

The company disclosed that it has invested over US$1.1 billion in its network over the past three years, with approximately US$318 million invested in 2026 alone.

According to the company, the investments are intended to enhance network capacity, improve service quality, and strengthen infrastructure resilience to meet the growing demands of its customers.

MTN Ghana further revealed that it is deploying about 500 new network sites nationwide as part of efforts to extend coverage, improve network quality, and build a more resilient infrastructure to better serve its customers.

The company’s Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, Joseph Dogbe, disclosed this at the MTN Media and Stakeholders Forum held in Wa.

Mobile Money Transactions

Mr. Dogbe described their mobile money (MoMo) service as more than just a payment platform, but a gateway to economic participation.

He disclosed that transaction values had grown by 44 per cent year-on-year, demonstrating the increasing use of mobile money services by Ghanaians to conduct transactions, save and grow their businesses.

He added that protecting customers and ensuring the security of their transactions remained a critical responsibility of the company, assuring that measures would be put in place to address related concerns.

Wa MCE Commends MTN

Speaking at the forum, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Issah Nura Danwanaa, has commended MTN Ghana for providing 70 per cent funding towards the construction of an e-drain in front of the company’s main office in Wa.

He described the support as a positive contribution to development within the municipality and praised the company for its commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Alhaji Danwanaa, however, appealed to MTN to extend its support to addressing poor network connectivity in the area, revealing that about 22 communities within the Wa Municipality continue to experience network challenges.

He called on the telecommunications giant to intervene and help improve network coverage in the affected communities to ensure residents have access to reliable communication services.

The meeting provided an opportunity for industry stakeholders and media professionals to engage directly with MTN’s leadership regarding the company’s evolving service standards and compliance frameworks.

By prioritizing transparency and stakeholder engagement, the company aims to solidify its operational excellence as it enters its next decade of service.
