Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lawra Constituency, Bede A. Ziedeng ESQ, has urged aspirants contesting the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Regional Executive Elections in the Upper West Region to prioritise party unity and mutual respect, warning against divisions that could undermine the party’s collective efforts to strengthen its electoral fortunes.

The Lawra MP called on aspirants to campaign with decorum, uphold internal democracy and remain focused on the party’s ultimate goal of securing victory in national elections.

In a statement released, the lawmaker congratulated all aspirants who had successfully filed their nominations for the various positions, describing their decision to seek regional executive positions as a demonstration of commitment, loyalty and dedication to the growth and electoral fortunes of the party.

He noted that the willingness of party members from constituencies across the Upper West Region to step forward for leadership positions reflected the region’s longstanding tradition of grassroots mobilisation and its potential to produce vibrant political leadership.

As campaigning gathers momentum, Mr Ziedeng cautioned aspirants against losing sight of the shared values and objectives that bind the party together, stressing that the contest should be approached as an internal family affair rather than an avenue for division.

“As you embark on this campaign journey, please you are enjoined to promote Unity,” he stated, encouraging candidates to conduct their engagements with mutual respect, decorum and a spirit of togetherness.

The veteran politician further reminded the aspirants that the regional elections should ultimately serve a broader political purpose: building a formidable NDC front in the Upper West Region capable of contributing to the party’s success in future national elections.

He urged candidates to remain resilient throughout the process, drawing inspiration from what he described as the courage and spirit of service that have long characterised the people of the Upper West Region.

Mr Ziedeng also emphasised the importance of internal democracy, observing that participation in the electoral process was valuable irrespective of the eventual outcome. According to him, the courage to contest leadership positions enriches the party’s democratic culture and strengthens its organisational foundation across the region.

He described the aspirants as ambassadors of the Upper West Region and assured them of continued prayers, support and encouragement throughout the electoral process.

The lawmaker expressed confidence that the candidates’ hard work, vision and dedication would resonate with delegates as they seek their mandate to serve the party at the regional level.

Concluding his message, Mr Ziedeng wished all aspirants well in their campaign activities and reaffirmed his commitment to the party and the region.
