Wa West DCE Rewards U-13 Sports Team for Topping Regional Competition

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West District, Hon. Richard Wullo, has commended the district’s Under-13 sports team for their sterling performance at the recently concluded Under-13 Sports Competition held at Wa Senior High School.

In recognition of their remarkable achievement, the DCE presented the young athletes with cash rewards, school bags, and mathematical sets to celebrate their dedication, hard work, and excellence.

The presentation followed a courtesy call on Monday, May 25, 2026, by the management of the Wa West District Education Directorate, who formally presented the gold, silver, and bronze medals won by the team to the DCE at his office.

Addressing the team, Hon. Wullo congratulated the young sportsmen and women for bringing honour to the district and projecting the image of Wa West positively. He encouraged them to maintain discipline and strive for excellence not only in sports but also in their academic pursuits.

The DCE, himself a former athlete who competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4×100 metres relay events, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting sports development and educational activities within the district. He assured the Education Directorate of continued support as preparations begin for the upcoming Under-15 Inter-District Sports Competition scheduled to take place in the Nandom District.

Wa West District emerged as the overall best-performing district at the competition, securing ten gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals. The district competed in several disciplines, including football, volleyball, and athletics.

Presenting the medals on behalf of the Wa West District Education Directorate earlier, the District Director of Education, Mr. Amatus D. Tug-uu, expressed appreciation to the Sports Coordinator, team handlers, and the athletes for their commitment and determination, which contributed to the district’s impressive performance.

He noted that discipline, teamwork, and dedication were the key factors behind the team’s success and commended all stakeholders who contributed to the achievement.

Mr. Tug-uu also thanked Hon. Richard Wullo for his unwavering support to the Directorate, particularly during the Under-13 Sports Competition.

“Your support served as a great source of motivation for the team and contributed significantly to this outstanding performance,” he stated.

He further appealed to the DCE to extend similar support as the district prepares its contingent for the upcoming Under-15 Inter-District Sports Competition in Nandom.

The ceremony was attended by officials of the Wa West District Education Directorate, parents, sports handlers, and the young athletes whose achievements have brought pride and recognition to the district.
