Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Madam Khalida M.A. Seidu, has joined the race to contest for the Upper West Regional Women’s Organiser position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with a renewed focus on effective grassroots mobilisation.
In a declaration of intent circulated to party members, Madam Seidu said her ambition is anchored on empowering women, strengthening grassroots structures and building a united and effective women’s wing across the region.
“As your Deputy Upper West Regional Women’s Organiser, I have walked the path with you, worked in the trenches with you, and fought for the NDC’s progress across every corner of our region,” she stated.
She said her decision to seek the position was informed by her experience working with women and party structures, adding that she was ready to take on greater responsibility in organising and mobilising women for the party.
A central part of her proposed agenda is what she describes as grassroots empowerment. Ms Khalida Seidu pledged to provide support and resources to constituency and branch women’s executives, with the aim of strengthening their capacity to organise and engage members at the grassroots.

She also promised to work towards greater unity within the women’s wing, stating that she will create “A unified, strong, and caring wing where no sister is left behind”.
She further identified strategic mobilisation as another priority, pledging to work towards effective mobilisation for the NDC. According to her, strategic mobilisation is required to ensure victory for the NDC in every election. To achieve this, she said experience and loyalty counts, which she has “proven through action leadership”.
Madam Seidu currently serves as the Deputy Regional Women’s Organiser of the NDC having beaten four others to it in the party’s 2022 Upper West Regional elections.
She has long been involved in women’s and community-related activities. As Deputy Women’s Organiser, she engages in empowering young women through breast cancer screening, personal development programs, and party mobilisation. She has been a vocal advocate for the cancellation of taxes on sanitary pads.
In 2023, she supported St. Ignatius of Loyola Senior High School at Lassia-Tuolu with streetlight bulbs to improve lighting and security on the school campus.
In her declaration, she called on women of the party to join her in strengthening the regional women’s wing. “Let us unite, re-energize our base, and build the most formidable women’s front in the Upper West Region,” she stated.
