The Department of Industrial Art at the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) has held its 2026 Art Exhibition, positioning the event as a catalyst for sustainable development, youth empowerment, and national transformation.

Addressing participants during the event on March 4, 2026, the Head of Department (HoD), Dr. John Boateng, explained that the exhibition goes beyond the mere display of artistic creations. According to him, the works presented reflect innovation, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial potential among students.

He emphasized that in today’s technology-driven world, such practical and creative competencies are essential, not only for securing employment but also for creating jobs and contributing meaningfully to society.

Dr. Boateng noted that the university deliberately aligns creative education with national economic growth by nurturing innovation and encouraging the use of indigenous materials to produce value-added products. He further stated that the exhibition promotes cultural preservation, environmental responsibility, and social inclusion, reinforcing the broader developmental agenda of the institution.

The HoD used the opportunity to woo students at the secondary level who are studying technical and vocational courses to choose DHLTU and join the art exhibition. He said the university presents a platform for them to showcase and sharpen their talents.

For Dr. Boateng, DHLTU is the perfect institution for creative minds who have the desire to build upon their basic knowledge and skills. He added that the university serves as a source of inspiration for untapped talents as it offers an opportunity to innovate and create new ideas in a professional way. He declared the university’s readiness to mentor and nurture the young generation of creative artists who will contribute to the development of Ghana.

On his part, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Baba Insah, explained that the primary objective of the exhibition is to harness creativity as a tool for sustainable development. He said the event serves as a platform to demonstrate students’ technical competencies and their ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions.

Professor Insah reiterated that the university remains committed to equipping students with industry-relevant skills and entrepreneurial knowledge necessary for self-reliance and national development after graduation.
