The Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing (Esq.) has bemoaned the bad state of some government bungalows in the regional capital, Wa, stressing that occupants of the properties subject them to abject conditions.
The Minister at a press soiree held on Thurdsday, January 15, 2026, by the Regional Coordinating Council, made the statement while responding to a question on the 19-year old abandoned government’s Affordable Housing Project at Sombo, a suburb of Wa.
Hon. Lwanga Puozuing noted that, the government is currently working on its housing policy and would consider including the abandoned Wa housing project in it.
He, however, indicated that considering the behavior of some tenants of state-owned bungalows with respect to maintenance, if he were to advise the government, he would rather advise that funds for such a project be invested in the Upper West Regional Hospital.
The Minister urged the media to take interest and report on the state of existing bungalows by naming and shaming occupants on the poor usage of the facilities. He was quick to add that, the RCC has taken measures to ensure that the facilities are put into judicious use and will be meeting beneficiaries of the facilities in earnest.
He seized the opportunity and admonished users of public properties to treat public properties like their own and develop positive behavior towards the usage of such properties while refraining from poor maintenance culture.
