A philanthropist and General Overseer of the Zion Community Church, Apostle Dr. Moses Sansah Konjon, has launched a Widows and Orphans Care Programme in the Sanuori Electoral Area of the Wa West District in the Upper West Region.
The programme, which targets widows and orphans, seeks to improve access to healthcare and reduce the financial burden on vulnerable women in the area.
As part of the initiative, Apostle Dr. Konjon introduced a free health insurance support scheme for about 200 women. The policy is intended to help widows access quality healthcare services without financial difficulty.

Speaking at the launch, Apostle Dr. Konjon said the Widows and Orphans Care Programme is a long-term social intervention aimed at supporting widows and orphans across Ghana and beyond.
In outdooring the programme, he donated an amount of three thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 3,000.00) to the Assemblyman of the area to assist widows in renewing their National Health Insurance membership to have easy access to medical care.
According to him, the decision to support the widows in the Sanuori Electoral Area followed an invitation from the assembly member, who briefed him on the numerous challenges confronting widows in the community.

He further revealed that the programme will operate under two main support systems – a regular or special support system and an annual support system.
Under the regular or special support system, widows and orphans in urgent need of assistance in areas such as food, shelter and education will receive immediate support. Those who are relatively stable will benefit from the annual support system, which will provide them with food items, clothing and other essential materials every year.
The Widows and Orphans Care Programme is structured around four key pillars: health, nutrition, home placement and discipleship. The initiative is expected to significantly improve the living standards of widows and orphans in the Sanuori Electoral Area and neighbouring communities.
