The Wa Central Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Osuman Abdul-Hamid, has strongly dissociated himself from a publication by the Chronicle newspaper which suggested that the Dombo family had endorsed Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s presidential bid.
The publication, headlined “Dombo Family Backs Bryan,” carried a photograph showing Mr Abdul-Hamid together with the Wa Central Constituency Organiser, Daubile Alhassan Ibrahim, and Mohammed Abdul Safiu, Deputy Nasara Coordinator, presenting a smock to Dr. Acheampong.
In a statement issued, Mr Abdul-Hamid described the report as misleading and mischievous, warning that it could wrongly be interpreted as an impersonation of the Dombo family.
“I am the Wa Central Constituency Chairman for the NPP and not a member of the Dombo family as alleged in the said publication,” he stressed.

He explained that the photograph was taken at the Wa Technical Institute during an engagement between Dr. Bryan Acheampong and constituency delegates of the Wa Central Constituency. According to him, the smock was presented by the Constituency Organiser, Daubile Alhassan Ibrahim, who has publicly associated himself with Dr. Acheampong’s campaign ahead of the NPP presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Mr Abdul-Hamid stated that he was only asked by the Constituency Organiser to assist in the presentation of the smock and was never informed that the gesture was intended to signify an endorsement.
“As Constituency Chairman, I have a responsibility to welcome every aspirant who visits the constituency. That cannot be equated to an endorsement of Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s bid,” he clarified.
The Wa Central NPP Chairman therefore distanced himself entirely from the newspaper publication and urged the public to treat the report “with the contempt that it deserves,” insisting that it was a clear case of misinformation.
