The Upper West Regional Best Farmer for 2025, Mohammed Dab, has called on authorities to ensure that there is ready market for farm produce to prevent farmers from accruing losses.

According to the Tumu-based farmer, the inability to sell their produce is worrisome and a threat to farming in general. He said such issues will affect the morale of existing farmers and further serve as a disincentive for potential ones.

Mr. Dab also calls on government to support the agric department with logistics so that they can in turn attend to farmers who need their services. He said inadequate resources is a major impediment to the Department of Agriculture ability to urgently respond to the needs of support farmers in the region.

While acknowledging the efforts being made by the government to work on roads in the Upper West region, Mohammed Dab wants the work to be fast-tracked in order to reduce travel time. He decried the long hours and the breakdown of vehicles farmers and other road users face as a result of the poor roads.
