The landowners of the Tendamba Primary School have vowed to defend the school land to the hilt if any attempt is made to demolish the school for the proposed 24 hour economy market. They said there has not been any consultation with them, in whatever form, regarding the intended demolishing of the school sitting on their land.
This was disclosed at a press conference addressed by Abu Ibrahim Sunkari on behalf of the landlords at the school premises.
According to the landlords (Tendamba), the current location of the Tendamba Primary School is more suitable for educational purposes than for commerce, insisting that the land must be maintained for the purpose it was given out to government, which is education.
The Sokpayiri Tendamba believe that any attempt to use the land for purposes other than educational needs will have direct negative effects on the current pupils, teachers, parents, and the entire community as a whole. They further stated that the decision by parents and guardians to enrol their children in the Tendamba Primary and Kindergarten school was deliberately done based on certain factors such as congenial learning environment, community stability, ease of reach, and balance of development associated with the school.

The landowners indicated that they are not against the idea of the 24-Hour Economy Market, which is for economic development of the community. However, without mincing words, they declared that a school should not be sacrificed for that purpose, especially that there are alternative lands that could be used for the market project.
They therefore called on the Wa Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders to as a matter of urgency engage in deliberations and further consultations in finding a site for the market.
