Former Wa West District Chief Executive and Regional Coordinator of the Free SHS Programme, Hon. Alhaji Adamu N.S. Dasaana, has donated 60 bags of sugar to the Wa West office of the National Democratic Congress to support Muslims and Christians observing the Ramadan and Lent fasting seasons.

According to Mr. Dasaana, the sugar is intended for distribution across all 17 zones in the district to benefit party faithful as well as traditional and religious leaders. He described the donation as his widow’s mite to help mitigate the difficulty people may have in observing the fasting period.

He explained that the donation forms part of his annual Ramadan gesture and noted that it is meant to support both Muslims and Christians, since both groups are currently observing periods of fasting.

Alhaji Dasaana called on leadership of the NDC party in the constituency to ensure that the items are shared equitably across the district, urging beneficiaries to feel free to make good of the sugar.

He stated that fasting is about love, unity, and peaceful coexistence, which informed his decision to make the donation, adding that the initiative is aimed at promoting peace, unity, and togetherness among the people.

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Wa West NDC Chairman, Mr. Matthew Vaare, expressed gratitude to Mr. Dasaana for the kind gesture.

He assured that the sugar would be distributed fairly to avoid any divisions among the zones, chiefs, and religious leaders.

Mr. Vaare also appealed for more support during the Ramadan and Lent seasons. While lauding Adamu Dasaana for remembering the lent period, he emphasised that donations should not be limited only to Muslims, since Christians are equally observing Lent.

He noted that the donation would serve as a major relief to fasting individuals by reducing the pressure associated with the demand for sugar and other essential items.
